THE TOOLBOX

Small tools. Everyday possibilities.

Useful tools for your everyday files.

How does Text encoding work?

Encode or decode Unicode text using Base64 or URL component encoding. Paste text or select a text file, then choose the operation and download the result. Base64 uses UTF-8 bytes so multilingual text can round-trip. URL encoding escapes text for a URL component, rather than validating a complete URL. Malformed encoded input produces an error. Encoding is reversible and is not encryption: do not use Base64 to conceal passwords or other secrets.

How do I convert a file without uploading it?

Choose a tool, add a file with the picker or drag and drop, adjust the output settings, then select Convert files and download the result. The conversion code runs in your browser and does not send selected files or entered conversion text to a conversion server. Results stay in page memory until downloaded. Refreshing or closing the page clears that state, so save your results first and retain your originals until you have checked them.

What are the file and device limits?

A batch supports up to 20 files, 50 MiB per file and 150 MiB in total. Image decoding is limited to 40 megapixels. PDF splitting and rotation take one input PDF at a time; splitting into individual files supports up to 500 outputs. Large decoded images and PDFs may need substantially more memory than their file size. Try fewer files if your device struggles. Current browser decoding and device memory determine whether a particular file can be processed.

How can I check the conversion result?

Open the downloaded result and compare it with your original before relying on it. For images, inspect dimensions, transparency and visual quality. For PDFs, check page count, page order and orientation; interactive features and signatures may not be retained. For tables, check headers, row counts and data types: CSV and TSV values become JSON strings, and potential spreadsheet formulas receive an apostrophe prefix on export. Base64 is reversible encoding, so it does not protect secret information.
